Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things, and give me life in your ways.
Psalms 119:37 ESV
You’ve heard the saying, “garbage in, garbage out.” We don’t have a problem telling that to a younger person or someone who is going through troubles at the time, but do we take our own advice?
Do we watch what we put in front of us? Do we care about what we watch on TV or the internet or read in books? All of those things go into our minds and thoughts. They have an effect on us. They can influence us.
Compare the amount of time you spend doing things like TV, internet and the like vs your time in the Word of God, praying and spending time with your Christian brothers and sisters.
Are you out of balance?
Christians need to come to the realization that there are “worthless” things out there and choose not to allow those things to have priority in their life. The Psalmist wrote that his eyes would turn from worthless things.
Is that your prayer too? Do you take action to make this happen in your life?
What is on the inside will come out when times of trouble come. Go squish a banana and see what gets all over your hands. Guess what, banana! If you have God’s love and mercy inside when you get squished, He will come out.
What you want is life in HIS ways. That’s a good life!
Father, let me put only the things that are worthy in front of me, that I would honor you with my time.
Peace,
Todd
