13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into this or that town and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.” 14 You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life like? For you are a puff of smoke that appears for a short time and then vanishes. 15 You ought to say instead, “If the Lord is willing, then we will live and do this or that.”
James 4:13-15 NET
Life comes fast. By the time you know it, you are an old man. Your mind might think you are younger, but your body will tell the truth.
Regardless, our time here on Earth is short. You have a given number of days to impact this world.
What will you do with that time?
Will you seek your own will? Or will you seek out the will of God?
Will you take in all the world has to offer? Or will you submit yourself to what the Lord requires of you?
One of the greatest no prayers we can pray is, “not my will, but Yours be done.”
Like everything else spiritual, knowing God’s will comes from spending time with Him, praying and knowing His Word. There is no substitute.
But there is also the need to submit to His will. The journey the Lord might ask us to travel, might not be the one we thought we would be on.
We need to trust Him. His ways are so much better than ours.
Lord, lead me by showing me Your will. Give me the strength to walk the path You set out for me, even when I don’t understand it all.
