In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the exiles by the Chebar canal, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
Ezekiel 1:1 ESV
Do you remember when you wanted to make a phone call, you had to be near a phone? That makes sense right? If you didn’t want to be tethered to how long the phone line was at home, you could go to a payphone and maybe talk to someone from your car if the pay phone was short enough and you could get close enough.
Kids nowadays don’t know the struggle we had.
Now, they can walk and talk or text almost anywhere there is a signal. Do you want to go to a park? Do you want to be on top of a tall building? Do you want to be at a sporting event? Do you want to be waiting for your spouse while their shopping? All of these places and more allow you to now have a conversation with someone. Anywhere! Wherever you want!
But it’s always been like that with God! Ezekiel was in exile, away from Jerusalem, on the banks of a canal, and he had a vision from the Lord.
You can talk to the Lord wherever and whenever you want. You can even do it in places where there is no cell tower. God isn’t limited to a signal!
With all of that, why don’t more people talk to God? Why don’t more people spend time telling the Lord what is on their heart and then, stopping to listen to what He might say?
He speaks. Just like He spoke to Ezekiel, Moses and all the other men and women of God, He will speak and listen to you.
Don’t miss this! The God of all creation wants to have a conversation with you.
Talk to Him today and then listen!
Father, thank You that no matter where I am, You are there to listen and talk to me. Help me to hear Your voice above all the other voices wanting my attention. You are all that matters.
