Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way? ”Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:5-6 ESV
Have you ever wondered about your path in life? Have you ever been concerned that you are not accomplishing what you were meant for or have you just been unsatisfied?
The path that we are to take in life is important. We want to matter. We want to living a meaningful life.
Thomas, the disciple of Jesus, seemed to be asking about the way they should go in this verse.
What was Jesus’ response? “I am the way.”
The point is that we shouldn’t be looking for a specific path as much as we should be where Jesus is.
Find Jesus, and you know the way. Find Jesus, and you will know the path you should take. Find Jesus, and you find life!
When we put our eyes on Jesus, everything else becomes clear. It seems contrary to what the world says. It’s contrary to making a plan for your life and setting goals.
Not that Jesus won’t ask you or show you a plan. But first, we must be where He is. First we should align ourselves with Him.
He is the way. There is none other.
Choose to be where He is. Seek Him first, then everything else falls into place.
Have you been struggling with meaning and purpose? This is why. Try putting Him first and see what happens. Spend quality time with Him, reading His Word and listening to His voice. He is the way.
What do you have to do today to truly follow His way?
Father, thank You for the clear path to live this life. Help me always to find Jesus and stay where He is. Everything becomes clear then.
