Thus Saul died with his three sons, his armor bearer, and all his men on that day together.
1 Samuel 31:6 NASB
Saul started off so well. He did some things that were totally led by the Spirit of God and he helped to free Israel from the tyranny of the Philistines.
But along the way, he got his eyes off of the Lord. He forgot where his strength was truly from! He relied on his own strength and his own power. And because of that, he failed miserably!
In the end, it doesn’t matter how you started. It matters how you finish. People remember Saul as the king that God removed, not the king God used to free His people.
How will you end up? We should all take time to reflect on where we stand and evaluate our walk with the Lord.
Have we become to lax in our relationship with Him? Are we easily pursuaded to follow after our own desires? Are we praying, reading the Bible, and fellowshipping with other believers? Does our time spent with the Lord seem cold?
Don’t wait! Get right now!
Lord, what else is there that is more worthy than You? Forgive us for the times that we think we know better. Draw us to You so that we could walk in closet communion with You.
