Then he said to me, “Son of man, I am about to remove the bread supply in Jerusalem. They will eat their bread ration anxiously, and they will drink their water ration in terror because they will lack bread and water. Each one will be terrified, and they will rot for their iniquity.
Ezekiel 4:16-17 NET
Everyone wants to believe that God is a God of love.
Don’t get me wrong, He is! But He is also a Just God. This means that He measures out justice according to what is deserved.
The problem our modern world has is that they don’t want to acknowledge the justice piece. They only want to pick the part of God that makes them feel good, the love part.
But God will be Just regardless of what others want. And when He is Just, He will deal with sin.
The people in Ezekiel’s day were “playing church.” God sees right through that.
God wants true devotion, not mere words. He brings everything to light, just like He did in Ezekiel’s time.
Don’t play church. Take your relationship with Jesus seriously.
Back to the deserve it part… We don’t deserve His love. We deserve to perish in our sins.
But God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus to die on the cross for us. His blood covers over all of our sins. Jesus’ blood allows us to experience God’s love fully.
Father, thank You for being a loving God and making a way for us to stay in a right relationship with You. Help us to show others Your love and mercy too.
