You must not sacrifice to him a bull or sheep that has a blemish or any other defect, because that is considered offensive to the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 17:1 NET
Animal sacrifices are a little lost on us in this day and age. Or are they?
Jews were required to bring an animal without blemish. It would be easy to think, “why does that matter? This animal is going to be slaughtered, sacrificed and eaten. What does it matter if its leg is too short or it’s a little small or whatever?”
The issue is, what are you bringing to God?
Are you bringing Him second rate sacrifices? Are you bringing animals that you are happy to get rid of? Or are you bringing your best?
You see, many times we give everything and everyone else our best and give God the leftovers.
He gets our leftover time, energy or money. We don’t give Him our best.
He deserves it! He gave us His best, His only Son, Jesus Christ.
He didn’t send an angel or create something to send to die for our sins. He sent Jesus, His only Son. And because of that, you will have the very best in eternity, if He is your Lord and Savior.
So, are you giving Him leftovers? Or are you giving Him your best?
Father, help me to bring You my very best. Help me to value what is truly important. Help me to see clearly.
