This made Saul very angry. The statement displeased him and he thought, “They have attributed to David tens of thousands, but to me they have attributed only thousands. What does he lack, except the kingdom?” So Saul was keeping an eye on David from that day onward.
1 Samuel 18:8-9 NET
King Saul was upset that the women sang about David in a positive light. Actually, they sang that he had killed tens of thousands while Saul had only killed thousands.
Saul was afraid that the people loved David more than him.
What Saul failed to realize is that it doesn’t matter what people think. It doesn’t matter what people say. What matters is what the Lord wants.
The Lord is in control. He was back then during the time of King Saul and David and He is now too!
God will accomplish what He want in your life. The thing that tips the scales for you in relation to how God moves in your life is your obedience and trust in Him.
The Biblical record is clear. There are plenty of examples. When people followed God’s Word and we’re obedient, He blessed then.
Where do you stand in relation to God Word? Do you know enough of it to know what God says and wants for your life?
Don’t neglect to get in God’s Word.
Father, thank You for Your Word. Help me to read it and understand it through the illumination of the Holy Spirit.
