He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, so he is responsible for himself. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life.
Ezekiel 33:5 NET
God always reveals what is going to happen. He gives warnings and prompts.
The question is, do we truly pay attention to what the Lord is saying? Do we put ourselves in a place where we can hear and identify His voice? Does it make a difference for us or are they just words?
The Bible is filled with both examples.
In Ezekiel’s day, the people of Jerusalem did not heed his warnings, or the other warnings from the true prophets of God.
At that time, false prophets were still prophesying that everything was going to be ok. Well, it wasn’t!
Does God still give warnings today? You better believe it! Will you listen? The responsibility falls on you to listen and respond.
We live in a post-Christian world. People don’t care about living for Jesus or living according to the Bible.
It’s easy to find parallels with our world and the ancient world when people turned their back on God.
You need to decide how you are going to live in the midst of it all! You need to decide to live passionately for Jesus.
The world won’t like it! But in the end, what the world thinks won’t matter.
Father, help us to live for You in this world. Give us the strength to walk obediently in the midst of disobedience. Help us to be led by the Holy Spirit and Your Word and not by anything else that would sway us.
