“Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.
Ezekiel 18:30 ESV
The 18th chapter of Ezekiel sounds very much like the Gospels. In chapter 18, God is speaking through the Prophet Ezekiel, encouraging the Israelites to turn from their ways and walk righteously. If not, there will be consequences!
It is personal. It is a warning. God doesn’t want to punish for the sake of sin. His desire is to bless His people. But He will deal with sin. He will deal with unrighteousness. And you don’t want to be on the receiving end of that!
Why not live according to God’s ways? It truly isn’t that difficult to live a life that honors God, that follows the Bible (and not what some man says the Bible says) and that is led by the Holy Spirit. That is a life that God looks for! That is a life that God seeks!
Look in the Bible and see how God dealt with things. Don’t justify it away by saying that it is Old Testament or that we live in a modern era now. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. God never changes!
His love and mercy were alive and evident in Ezekiel 18, just like they are in the Gospels. The key is our response to Him.
How will you respond to His mercy and grace? How will you respond to His discipline and warnings? You get to make the choice now. He will tell you how well you chose later.
Father, thank You that Your love and mercy were there all along. From the very beginning of time in the Garden of Eden to the very last book of the Bible, you show us the way and allow us to walk in it! Let me live a life that proclaims your mercy and grace and that honors and pleases You.
