And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.”
Mark 11:17 ESV
There are some people that you have a connection with, that when they say something, you can easily read between the lines and pick up what they are really saying.
Jesus told those in the temple that they had made the temple a den of robbers. What He was really saying is God was done with them!
Jesus was quoting Jeremiah 7:11. This is the chapter that Jeremiah tells the people to go look at the last place where the Tabernacle once stood. It was now desolate because the people were disobedient.
This is also the chapter that God tells Jeremiah to stop praying for the people, because He is done and He is sending judgement.
There is a point where warnings stop and judgement begins.
The breaking point was when the Temple stopped being a house of prayer and became a den of thieves.
Make prayer a true priority and you won’t see God’s judgement!
As you look around, what do you see? Where have we gone to? What have we become?
More importantly, what does He see?
Father, build a temple in my heart that always puts You first. Let me never become so comfortable that I neglect my relationship with You.
