For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
Galatians 5:17 ESV
We are in a war! We are in a war with ourselves!
If you are born again, two natures are fighting inside of you, your flesh and your spirit.
The flesh desires the things of this world. It pulls you to indulge in your passions and desires. The focus is on you!
The spirit desires the things of God. The spirit wants to live for, praise, walk with the Lord. The focus is on Jesus.
As these two natures play tug-of-war on the inside of you, the one that wins out is the one you allow to reign in your life, the one you give time to, the one you feed.
If you desire to live for Jesus, you must be purposeful. You must be spiritually disciplined. Because it doesn’t take much for the flesh to have it’s way.
Daily prayer and Bible reading, spending time with the Lord, walking in the Spirit, guarding your heart and mind, isn’t for the faint of heart. It is for the one who truly loves Jesus and is sold out to Him.
Which side is driving you?
Father, thank You for the revelation that there is no other way to live than being completely sold out to You. Give me an overwhelming desire to follow You everyday!
