‘For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings.
Leviticus 23:3 NASB
You’re too busy! As a society, we are crazy busy, always running around, trying to get everything done, because we filled out lives with junk!
But God wants us to have a day of rest. A day where we can stop, refresh, spend time with family, talk about the Lord and reflect on what is truly important.
The fact is, many of you who will read this, truly desire a Sabbath. In your mind, you’re saying, “that would be really great. But, I wouldn’t get everything done.”
Maybe you’re not supposed to get everything done. Maybe you have given yourself to too much.
God knew what He was doing. He gave the Sabbath for man, to rest. He knew we would work to get ahead, strive to get more, always be on the go. But He knew, what Science has discovered, that the body and mind needs rest.
Learn what having a Sabbath truly means. It doesn’t mean sitting on the couch taking a long nap. Learn about it and then do it! Work and the world will be there waiting for you afterwards.
Start small if you need to. Give yourself a few hours of a Sabbath and then increase it. Talk about the Lord with your family. Eat a good meal. Pray together. Worship together. Take time to think about the blessings in your life. Take some time to stop and reflect while you read the Word.
Youight find that the Sabbath is your favorite part of your week!
Lord, thank You that You always know what is bes. Thank You for giving us a Sabbath and insisting that we rest. Help us to trust that life won’t go on without us and to be obedient to Your Word.
