For all the peoples walk each in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.
Micah 4:5 ESV
It’s a choice! You get to decide what you’re going to give your life to. But choose wisely!
Your choice has consequences. Now the word consequences isn’t a negative word. It just means that there are results or effects from your actions. They can be positive or negative. But there are also degrees of effects we have to deal with.
If you go to the ice cream shop and try a new flavor that you’ve never tried and don’t like it, you might be out a few bucks. That’s not a big deal. However, if you don’t choose wisely on who to give your life to, it means eternal death. This isn’t something to play or experiment with.
The thing about living for God is that He gives you plenty of time, resources and people so that you can make the right choice. We have Bibles galore today, more versions you can shake a stick at! You have churches of every type in every city. You have sermons on Youtube and on podcasts that just 15 years ago would cost $20 for a series to be shipped to you in the mail. You have ministry newsletters and websites and don’t forget the bookshelves filled with religious books of all kinds!
You would think that we would be the most spiritual people in the history of the world. But that is far from the truth.
Yet the Psalmist wouldn’t let any of this move him. He didn’t have the internet and books lining his bookshelf. But he had a faith that couldn’t be moved! His declaration is, “we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.”
It didn’t matter what the rest of the world was doing. It didn’t matter if other nations were off doing all the crazy things their god would allow them to do. The Psalmist was set and unmoveable, “we will walk in the name of the Lord…”
Nothing has changed since the Psalmist first penned his words. The world is still going after their own gods. And the true Believer, the ones who truly love the Lord will “walk in the name of the Lord…”
So you have choices. You get to decide. And riding the fence isn’t an option in the end. You either are or you’re not walking with the Lord fully.
Father, there is nothing like living for You! Keep my eyes fully fixed on You and Your ways. I desire nothing but You.
