Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children.
Genesis 32:11 NASB
Jacob hadn’t seen his brother in years. The last time he saw him, he was so angry that he threatened to kill him. Twenty plus years later, Jacob didn’t know how his brother would react. He feared.
Jacob was told by God to go back to the land of Canaan. On the way, he heard that Esau was coming to meet him with 400 men. Jacob feared.
Jacob planned and prepared. But he let his fear be known to God. He prayed and was honest with God. The important thing is that he didn’t let fear stop him from doing what God wanted him to do. He feared, but he put his trust in God still.
There are many reasons we fear. Fear that stifles you and keeps you from doing what you are supposed to be doing for Him, needs to be given to the Lord.
Paul told Timothy that God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear.
When you fear, turn to God. Give it to Him and then activate your faith by trusting in Him. His power, His strength, His wisdom is unmatched!
Don’t neglect the things of God because of fear. Pray, trust and take a step forward. You’ll see that many times, like Jacob, the fear is unfounded.
Lord, thank You that we can trust in You. Help us when we are weak. Give us supernatural strength to have faith in uncertain times. You are able to help and save us in every circumstance.
