But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
1 Timothy 1:5 NASB
We will set all kind of goals. We want to be healthy, be secure financially, and have a good life. But do we have spiritual goals?
Paul and Timothy didn’t just minister to preach, they had goals for believers. Goals that would make a difference here in this world, but that definitely impacted Heaven. The goals were love from a pure heart, the mind and the spirit.
Love should be the reason and motivator in our walk. It should permeate every part of our being. But it has to be a God love. This love needs to come from God. It can’t be a love like the world has.
Although God’s love has no limits, it can be rejected by others. But, our goal, our instruction is to love with all of our being…continuously
The fact is that there are times I don’t want to love. There are times that I let my heart or my mind become unaligned and at that time, God’s goals get distorted.
But when I reflect on the love the Father has for me, I’m overwhelmed. For God so loved… His goal, needs to be my goal. When I slip up, I need to get back on track.
Father, thank You for Your unconditional love. Help me to love that way. Help me to love with all of my being. When I don’t feel like loving, grant me the grace to take a moment and remember my purpose in this world, to reach the goals that You have for me.
