As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.
Matthew 17:22-23 ESV
Stress comes when we don’t understand what or why something is happening. It’s a disruption in our lives that is not welcomed. We like things to stay nice and peaceful.
But it doesn’t matter how hard you try, how many strategies and helps you put in place, stress will come!
Knowing that it will come and knowing that you will stress is only half the battle!
Jesus told His disciples that He was going to be delivered to the “hands of men” and that He would be killed, but then raised again.
This caused stress! It wasn’t in their paradigm! They couldn’t understand it, even though He mentioned it many times.
And their stress was real! They felt it! Then they saw Him tortured. They saw Him die. They saw His body placed in the tomb! This was all very stressful! This was all overwhelming!
A man that they thought was the Messiah, followed for three years, and left everything for, died right in front of them!
It didn’t matter that He told them it would happen! Stress was high!
But stress was also short lived. It was temporary. All the time and energy put into their stress started to evaporate on Sunday morning when the reports of the empty tomb made it to the disciples hiding in fear of the Jews and Romans.
Stressed turned to confusion that turned to joy when they finally put eyes on their risen Lord!
Your stress, the things you are feeling right now, even though it is very real, will be lifted too!
Think about things you stressed about before that now you don’t give a second thought to.
And there is one more thing to look forward to. Heaven won’t have stress!
Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, you can have eternal life by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior.
Those that belong to Him, will have stress removed from them permanently when they reach their heavenly home.
Stress doesn’t have to control you now. You give it power if you want. But one day, you won’t ever experience it!
Father, I look forward to all the benefits of being in Your Presence!
