31 “Simon, Simon, pay attention! Satan has demanded to have you all, to sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Luke 22:31-32 NET
Don’t let your struggles sink you! They should be experiences that you draw upon to help others who are struggling but don’t have the capacity to see anything but.
Jesus knew that Peter would go through some serious emotional turmoil. He denied His Lord three times, even after adamantly stating he would not.
When he realized what he had done, he went away and wept bitterly.
But Jesus didn’t want him to stay in that state. He wanted him to get through it, because he was going to have the big responsibility of helping his Christian Brothers through their struggles. Jesus called him to strengthen them.
Emotions is part of our human make up. We have ups and downs. But we need to always get back to the Lord. We can’t wallow in the struggle. That’s where the devil wants you.
Jesus wants you out of that so you can help and strengthen others.
Jesus told Peter, “when you have turned back…”
I say to you, turn back to God! Give Him everything, all your victories and your struggles. You have a job to do!
Strengthen, speak into the lives around you. God has put His Spirit in you so that you can be a light, a witness for Him.
There is nothing better!
When was the last time you purposely set out to encourage someone?
Or, is your life so depressing that all you can do is say, “woe is me?”
Don’t make excuses!!! We can easily become accustomed to living lives of self-pity and depression. We say, “no one understands what I’m going through!”
Yeah, maybe no one but Jesus. He didn’t mean for you to live a defeated life! The problem is your focus is on you verses on Jesus!
Like the song says, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus…”
Don’t wuss out! Turn to Him and start being a light and encouragement to those around you!
Lord, what an awesome opportunity You have given us to shine for You. Help me to be an encouragement to others and the help them see Your glory.
