For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
Galatians 6:8 NASB
Corruption is a strange word when talking about sowing or working your flesh for your betterment. I mean, isn’t sowing good eating, exercise, good habits a good thing? Yes, they are! But ultimately, the things of the flesh, no matter how “good” you are, are getting used up. Your flesh is wearing out, getting older and will eventually die…no matter how much you try to prolong your life.
But there is real benefit to sowing to your spirit. Where your flesh is temporal and for the here and now, your spirit can live forever with Jesus in Heaven.
The things you sow in to your spirit now, will benefit you here and in eternity. The reason? When you sow in to your spiritual life, you are building on and strengthening your relationship with God.
Sowing spiritually needs to be intentional and purposeful, not legalistic, but because I love Jesus and want to know Him and spend time with Him.
And just like gardening, it takes time and patience…but consistent sowing to my spiritual man will see spiritual results as I learn to trust and have more and more faith.
Lord, as I sow to my spirit, let me be patient and trust that You are causing the increase. I don’t want to become complacent in my walk with You. There is so much to living in Your presence that I know I could never fully grasp your greatness. So I know that I will never get enough of You.
