And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.”
Mark 10:51 ESV
Sometimes the simple act of asking is so powerful, but we don’t do it!
As Jesus was walking, blind Bartimaeus, heard he was passing by. He started shouting and crying out to Jesus.
Jesus asked for Bartimaues to be brought to Him. Of course, Jesus would have seen that they were leading Bartimaues, because he was blind.
But when he stood in front of Jesus, Jesus asked him what he wanted.
Wouldn’t it make sense that Jesus would know what blind Bartimaeus would want? It’s pretty obvious.
But Jesus wanted Bartimaues to verbalize it. He wanted to hear it from Bartimaues himself. “What do you want Bartimaues?”
I’m sure Bartimaues had thought long and hard what life would be like if he could just see. He longed for it. He desired his sight greatly.
He didn’t hesitate asking Jesus for his sight.
What about you? What do you long for? What would you desire Jesus to do for you?
I’m not talking about getting blessed with a million dollars. That’s not the way it works.
But what would you ask Jesus for? What is so important that you have thought about and desired for such a long time?
Simply ask Him. He already knows what you need. He just wants you to come to Him and ask.
Father, thank You for hearing and answering my prayers. Thank You that I can simply come to Your Presence and know that I am welcomed.
