But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”
Matthew 14:30 ESV
Staying focused is a big topic nowadays. It’s probably because there are so many distractions that the one who can keep focused on their true goal can really achieve.
The same is true spiritually.
There are so many distractions in the natural, that our spiritual life gets neglected. We tend to focus on what we see, what is in our face, what is scary.
This was the case with Peter walking on the water. Other than Jesus, he is the only person who truly ever walked on water.
And he was fine walking on the water until he saw the wind.
Once he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the wind, he started sinking!
The great thing is that even when he was sinking, Peter cried out to Jesus and He saved him.
In this world, with so many distractions, we need to be diligent to keep our eyes on Jesus! This is the most important thing!
But it is good to know that if we start to sink, we can cry out to Him and He will be there!
What distractions do you need to remove from your life? What is big and scary that you need to ask the Lord to help you keep your eyes focused on Him?
He is always a prayer of faith away!
Father, help me to keep my eyes focused on You. When the wind and waves come, help me to trust even more.
