Every grain offering of yours, moreover, you shall season with salt, so that the salt of the covenant of your God shall not be lacking from your grain offering; with all your offerings you shall offer salt. Leviticus 2:13 NASB
Have you ever eaten bland food that required seasoning? When you do, you immediately reach for the salt. Salt adds so much to the taste. Some would say it is necessary!
Jesus said that Believers were the salt of the Earth. Salt was important back in New Testament times, just like it is now. Those that were listening to Him would have known exactly what He was talking about.
When gain offerings were offered in the temple, they were supposed to be sprinkled with salt. Salt doesn’t only make the bread taste better, it is symbolic.
Leviticus 2:13 tells us that the salt is a symbol for the covenant of God.
When we are called to be salt in this world, we are walking examples of the covenant that God has made with us.
And what is that covenant? That we are His, that we are redeemed, that we are forgiven and brought into the family of God!
Are you being salt? Better yet, are you being a salt shaker, showing the benefits of belonging to Him?
Let your life speak for what He has done and is doing in your life!
Father, help me to be an example of a changed life in this world.
