But Jesus did not permit him to do so. Instead, he said to him, “Go to your home and to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you, that he had mercy on you.” So he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis what Jesus had done for him, and all were amazed.
Mark 5:19-20 NET
This story always encourages me!
First, this guy had a legion of demons in him. The torture this guy felt inside, the spiritual and mental abuse, not to mention the damage that was done by breaking chains must have been extensive.
Second, he was so grateful for Jesus healing him from being demon possessed that he was ready to leave everything and follow Jesus.
Third, Jesus told him he could not follow Him, but instead he should share with others what “the Lord” had done for him.
Pain. Healing. Glorify.
Where are you right now?
If you are hurting, in whatever way, Jesus is there for you. He experienced life as a man here on Earth and knows what it is to feel pain, hurt, betrayal, unloved, unwanted and used.
No matter what kind of pain you are in, He can heal you. He is a healer. He doesn’t need to be a healer in the world to come! We will have perfect bodies. He is a healer in the here and now.
And when God has revealed Himself to you through Jesus Christ, what do you do with that? Do you glorify Him? Do you give Him the glory. Do people know who you belong to?
Jesus will meet you wherever you are right now. Go to Him! Trust Him!
Father, there is no one like You! Thank You for revealing Yourself to me. Thank You for healing me and touching my life, right here, right now. Help me to glorify You in this world. You deserve all the glory.
