Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.” John 18:36 NASB
This world didn’t have a hold on Jesus. He wasn’t worried about losing it, because it wasn’t in His realm.
But He was concerned about His people. Those whom the Father had given Him. Those who He had prayed for on the previous day (previous chapters).
Then why do we care so much about stuff? This “stuff” that we worry so much about is meaningless and temporary. Do you remember those favorite shoes or purse from 10 years back that you just had to have or didn’t want to get dirty? Do you still own them and treat them the same way? No you don’t! Because everything in this world loses its value. Everything but our relationship with the Lord and our relationship with others who need the Lord.
Like Jesus, we need to look ahead towards our true world, His realm, His Kingdom. When we do, this world starts to lose the hold it once had on us, priorities change and our focus is clear.
Are you letting this world dictate and control you, or is the Lord leading you all the way?
Check your priorities today! Let Him guide you through to our true home.
Father, remove everything that is not of You so I can see the road You have for me clearly.
