I will lie down and sleep peacefully,
for you, Lord, make me safe and secure.
Psalms 4:8 NET
Worry and anxiety plagues our world. It’s not just adults, but even young people see doctors and take medicine to deal with it.
But the Psalms suggests that you can be at peace and sleep well at night. The key is who do you put your faith and trust in?
If you depend on yourself or someone else to fill the emptiness in your life, then you will be disappointed. If you are looking at some thing to bring meaning or if you’re looking for some achievement to give you purpose, you will be miserable always looking for the next thing.
All those things work temporarily, that’s why people seek them out. But in the end, they are dead ends.
Knowing Jesus and that this world isn’t all there is, is what brings you true peace.
Knowing that your name is written in the Book of Life brings true peace.
Knowing that at any point in your day, you could close your eyes and ask the God of all creation to help you brings peace.
Knowing that Jesus forgives you of all your sins, if you are truly repentant, brings true peace.
The closer you draw to Jesus, the more at peace you find yourself. He is the Prince of Peace.
Father, thank You for Your peace, the peace that is always constant and never failing. Thank You that Your peace becomes more real the more I know You and spend time with You.
