Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
John 20:30-31 ESV
I believe in a lot of different things. I believe in getting a good night sleep, eating a good meal, having strong relationships and so many other things. But only one belief will cause me to have eternal life.
A question that might be asked is, can you have a true belief, but act contrary to it? Some might say so.
For example, if I believe that I should eat healthy, and I choose to eat fast food, is my belief still valid? You could say yes. Or, you could say that my belief wasn’t strong enough.
I know people who believe that about fast food and would rather go hungry than eat a hamburger and fries from one of the fast food restaurants. So is their belief stronger? Yes!
Their belief is so deep that they wouldn’t want to compromise their belief for a little bit of hunger pain.
So, what about our faith in Jesus?
Is our faith so strong that we wouldn’t compromise our belief in any way?
Many say they believe, but so quickly take the bite out of fast food.
The belief in Jesus that leads to eternal life should be more powerful than anything else we believe in. It should be the foundation of everything we do!
How would you rank your belief? Is it life-changing? Or is it easily compromised?
Believe strongly and let that belief guide you in your relationship with Jesus. Nothing is more important. Nothing else is worth your all.
Father, thank You for giving us something powerful to believe in. Thank You Jesus!
Peace
Todd
