David went on to say, “As the Lord lives, the Lord himself will strike him down. Either his day will come and he will die, or he will go down into battle and be swept away.
1 Samuel 26:10 NET
At this point in David and Saul’s story, David had been anointed as King of Israel for many years. However, he was still on the run because King Saul sought his life.
You would think after years of running and hiding, David would be ready to take matters into his own hands, but he wasn’t.
He had the view that God would take care of it in His timing. If God put Saul up as King of Israel, then God would take him down.
We would do well to have the same type of attitude. If we allowed God to move in His timing, things would be so much better. He is All Powerful, All Knowing, All Present!
Instead, we like to find reasons and manipulate the situations we are in, of course, making them sound really spiritual.
But God knows what He is doing. Trust Him. Be patient – that is the hardest. The Father loves you and wants to bless you.
In His timing, God did exactly what David said would happen, King Saul died in battle and very shortly after David became King of Israel.
Remember this too…while David was waiting, God was using that time to mold and make his character and experience. All things that he would need to rule a nation.
Father, help me to be patient when I’m in the middle of crazy circumstances. Help me to trust in You, knowing that Your timing is always the best. Help me to become the person You desire me to be, so that I would be ready to step into everything You have planned for me.
