In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. Mark 1:35 NASB
Every Believer should find it very interesting that Jesus Himself, the Son of God, believed that prayer was so important that He took the time to get up early in the morning, go to a secluded place and pray.
This wasn’t a one time thing either. Later the Gospels say that the disciples found Him praying as was His custom.
Why did Jesus pray? Because He knew it was important!
He knew it was important enough to take time out of His day of preaching the Gospel, healing people and casting out demons, to pray to the Father in heaven.
And where was He found right before He faced His most difficult trial, being whipped, beaten and crucified? He was found in the garden praying.
If Jesus took so much care and time to pray, don’t you think it is important for His followers to pray?
What were the disciples doing when the Holy Spirit fell in Acts 2? They were praying.
Prayer seems so silly. You are talking to someone who doesn’t even seem He is in the same room. But He is.
The Father is listening. He is responding. He is active in the prayers we pray.
With the way the world is right now, prayer is something that Christians should not be neglecting.
Take time to pray everyday. Set up a place where you will pray. Talk to Him and listen. You will start to identify His voice and the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life. It’s that important!
Father, thank You for listening to my prayer. Help me to listen and identify your voice too.
