So Saul, his three sons, his armor bearer, and all his men died together that day.
1 Samuel 31:6 NET
A truly sad end. Saul was the first King of Israel. In the beginning of his reign, God used him in big ways to rally the people and bring the nation together.
But his selfishness and insecurities caused him to turn from what God desired and listen to what his men wanted more. As a result, he wasn’t obedient to the Word of the Lord.
Disobedience has major consequences, in this life and the life to come.
In this life, Saul’s disobedience caused the favor of the Lord to leave him, eventually leading to the events of 1 Samuel 31, where he and all his sons died.
In the life to come, he will have to stand before God’s throne. Disobedience will be dealt there in finality. Yes, finality.
The end you think is the end is not the end. Let that sink in. (not trying to rhyme there)
Live differently now, because this life determines so much in the one to come. A short lifetime here, 70-80 years, will determine eternity!

Father, thank You for giving me Your Word as a guide to live. Help me through the power of the Holy Spirit understand it and apply it to my life, so that I can honor and glorify you in the here and now….and later in glory!
