Glorify God • Magnify Him in this World!

Not Listening to Others

Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:48 NASB

When you allow others to force how or what you believe in Jesus, you will miss out on the biggest blessings of your life!

Blind Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing by. He couldn’t get up to follow Him, but instead started crying out to get His attention.

Everyone around him told him to be quiet and tried to shut him up. But he didn’t allow them to keep him quiet.

As a result of blind Bartimaeus’ persistence, Jesus called him over and asked what he wanted. Of course, Bartimaeus wanted to see. And Jesus healed him!

What would have happened if Bartimaeus listened to those around him? He would have stayed blind and the blessing of his healing would have never come!

God uses people and circumstances to help direct us. But not like He uses His Word and the Holy Spirit. If you are looking for direction, you need to make sure that you are close to His Word and strong in His Spirit. You don’t want to count on other people to show you the way. Even the most discerning will get it wrong.

Christians have been given the Holy Spirit and the Word. What a shame when we don’t seek Him there.

Father, speak to me through Your Word and guide me by the Holy Spirit.

Peace, Todd
