You must not do as they do in the land of Egypt where you have been living, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan into which I am about to bring you; you must not walk in their statutes.
Leviticus 18:3 NET
Look around you! Do you and your life resemble more of the world than how God’s Word asks you to live?
What about the church? Does Jesus’ church, His bride, look more like the world than one set apart for Him?
We are supposed to be different! We are to live differently!
This world is temporary. It is passing away! It changes with the whims of man! Why would we allow this world to speak so mightily in our lives? Why would we choose this temporary feeling over an eternity of love and mercy and joy with Jesus?
“Christians” do it because it really isn’t real for them!
Their faith is emotional, situational, hype, feelings… The minute that is gone, it’s time to move on and try the next thing!
Jesus hasn’t become real to them! They haven’t experienced the true grace and mercy that Jesus offers.
They rushed it!
Down an aisle to give their life to Jesus and “make everything ok.”
This world is not ok! It’s never going to be ok! That’s why Jesus came!
Until Believers start to live a life of being emptied, not trying to make this world their home, not trying to have everything the world has, not trying to look like the world, they will never truly get it.
Their spiritual life will be full of fits and starts and they will never get to the victory Jesus offers them.
Where are you? Are you being more like Egypt? More like Canaan? Or more like Jesus?
Father, help me to never take the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross as a blank check to live like I desire. Put Your desires inside of me, that I might be pleasing in Your eyes.
