28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”. Matthew 11:28-30 NASB
Jesus never forces you to do anything. Instead, He invites you to come to Him.
When you come to Him, He promises to give you rest. This isn’t rest from all the activity of life. He is not asking you to come lay down on a heavenly couch and eat grapes for the rest of your life.
No, He is promising you rest from the uncertainty of life. He is promising you rest from worry and concern about your future. He is giving you rest by giving you peace. It is the peace that surpasses all understanding, that knowing that Jesus is for you no matter what.
How often do I pick up the junk of life after I have given it over to Him? I need to remember that I have come to the Lord and His peace.
I need to stay focused on His peace and His presence. If not, I tend to pick up the world’s yoke again.
Lord, help me to stay in Your presence. Help me to take Your yoke and peace. Let this become so real to me that it becomes my new normal.
