“Please, Lord. Remember how I have served you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion, and how I have carried out your will.” Then Hezekiah wept bitterly.
Isaiah 38:3 NET
What do you do when the chips are down? What is your move? How do you normally handle unpleasant news?
Some people go to the internet, they Google their issue hoping to find answers. Others go to some sort of professional for help. Yet others hunker down, go into planning and strategy mode and develop a plan.
Hezekiah didn’t do any of that!
When Isaiah, the Prophet, told him to get his house in order because he was going to die, he prayed.
He went straight to God and prayed for relief.
And God answered his prayer. God sent Isaiah back to him to let him know that 15 years had been added to his life.
When will we realize that prayer is more powerful than anything else we could do?
James 5:16 NET says, “So confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great effectiveness.”
Believe and trust God to come through in prayer. Seek Him wholeheartedly and He will answer!
He is attentive and listens to the prayers of His people.
Sometimes it is all you have. Sometimes it is one of many options. But it should always be the first thing we do.
It should always be our default!
Father, thank You for answering my prayers. Help me to stay so close to You that going to You is my default action.
