“Of what importance to me are your many sacrifices?”
says the Lord. “I am stuffed with burnt sacrifices of rams and the fat from steers. The blood of bulls, lambs, and goats I do not want.
Isaiah 1:11 NET
God doesn’t want His people to just go through the motions. That means nothing to Him!
He wants His people to serve and obey Him from their whole heart and mind. He is seeking people to worship and serve Him out of desire and passion.
The Jews in Isaiah’s time lost that! They “performed” the rituals and sacrifice, but it was meaningless to God.
This is the beginning of the end!
This is the beginning of the end if people don’t repent and get into right standing with God.
He doesn’t need sacrifices or offerings. All of those point to His work and love for His people. When it becomes a ritual and done without any attention towards Him, it is meaningless.
Do you go through the motions?
Does the way you live your life have any connection or meaning to your relationship with Him?
It should! Your whole life, everything that you are about, should reflect who you are in Jesus!
It’s not easy. We are bombarded with all kinds of things. But we need to come back to our real reason for living, our real purpose.
When our real purpose is at the forefront of our lives, then everything else falls into place.
Are you going through the motions? Take a moment to check your real reasons for living for Jesus. Adjust if necessary!
Father, help me to always remember that my life is all about You and before that, nothing else matters. Help me to live with abandoned desire for You.
