From Issachar there were 200 leaders and all their relatives at their command—they understood the times and knew what Israel should do.
1 Chronicles 12:32 NET
Have you gone into a store when they had Christmas decorations up way before the season? Now, they start selling Christmas decorations in October!
People will mention it and refer to it, because it is out of place.
We know the seasons and celebrations of the calendar. They come around ever year.
But what about the other seasons? Not Winter and Summer, but the other seasons, the signs of the times?
In the time of King David, when Israel was in transition from Saul, the tribe of Issachar didn’t merely do what others were doing. No! They understood the times!
They were paying attention!
And coupled with God’s Word, they saw what God was doing and aligned themselves with God’s work.
Are you paying attention today?
Is pumpkin spice on your radar more than what God is doing in this world? Do the next season’s TV shows speak louder to you than His Word?
God is active in this world. He is always working and moving in it. We, as His people, have a responsibility to pay attention, know His Word and be led by the Holy Spirit.
We should know God’s seasons and times. Just like everything else, it requires we give time and attention to His ways to understand what He is doing in our world.
What is the Holy Spirit saying to you in this season?
Father, thank You that You don’t hide Yourself from us. You have made Yourself and Your ways known to us. Help me discern the seasons and times and align myself accordingly.
