For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure that the Lord bore against you, so that he was ready to destroy you. But the Lord listened to me that time also.
Deuteronomy 9:19 ESV
One of the things that you always hear when it comes to God is that He is a God of Love. That is true, but that’s not all.
God is Holy. And He has standards and expects holy living. When He doesn’t see that, He disciplines His people, to get them to turn from evil to live holy.
In the case of the Israelites, they were so stubborn, that at one point, God told Moses that He was going to destroy them. But Moses interceded and prayed for them. And God changed His plan.
So prayer does change things. God does listen!
But I’m not talking about throwing up some words to the ceiling here. I’m not talking about rattling off a list of demands.
God listened to Moses because he had a deep relationship with Him. And because of that, God didn’t destroy the Israelites.
Is your relationship with the Lord on a deep level, or are you just an acquaintance, where you visit with Him every once in a while?
You have the opportunity to go to the Lord and intercede for others who might not know how to go to the Lord. God will listen to your prayer. But you have to be more than a mere acquaintance!
Are there needs around you that you could be lifting up to the Lord right now? Don’t delay! Go to Him and spend time with Him. He will hear you!
Father, thank You that You listen to our prayers and that You move right in the midst of them.
