I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Psalms 121:1-2 ESV
In our day and age, everything comes so fast! If we have to wait more than 5 minutes and pull over to the side to get our fast food, we tend to get frustrated. We want instant everything! If we have a question, the internet has the answer if we search for it! We want it now!
But the Lord has His timing. We don’t always understand it. We definitely don’t like how long He takes. But His ways are always going to be better. He looks at the big picture. He plays the long game. He sees the end before it begins!
So, we are pulled and tugged. We don’t like the fact that we need help, so we want to get our lives straight. But we know that we should really rely on Him, so we don’t want to force answers that aren’t truly from Him.
The Psalmist knew how to handle this. He knew that he had to remind Himself of where true help comes from. “My help comes from the Lord…”
While you are in the balance, while you stand in the gap, you must look up! You must look to Him, even if He is moving a little slower than you like!
The Psalmist also identifies that He, “made heaven and earth.” This is God, who created everything! God who put the sun and stars in their place and hung the moon. He made the mountains, trees, animals and you!
He knows what to do. He knows what you need. He hears your prayer. He will move in your life. Just trust. Just relax. Just surround yourself with more of Him and let His peace overwhelm you.
Father, help me to always look to You. Help me to get out of the way and let You move. Give me the patience to let You do it in Your time. Help me to be patient and to rest in You.
