Glorify God • Magnify Him in this World!

Like a River

Scripture
“If only you had paid attention to My commandments!
Then your well-being would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
Isaiah 48:18 NASB

Observation
We make decisions everyday. These decisions have consequences. The word consequences isn’t a bad word, it is actually a neutral word. Consequences can be good or bad.

Our response to God has consequences. When we follow His ways, when we live according to His plan, our lives are full of peace and joy. But He doesn’t stop there, He pours on blessings. The Scripture says, “your well-being would have been like a river,…”

Rivers continually flow, they are always moving, day or night. This is how God would respond to us if we keep His commandments and live according to His ways.

Application
It doesn’t make sense to me, why anyone would not want to live for the Lord.

In response to this, I want to press in even more. I want to follow harder after God. I want to be everything He wants me to be and I want to do everything He asks me.

How cool is it that your “righteousness” (being in a right relationship with God) can be like the “waves of the sea?”

Prayer
Lord, I’m so grateful that I know You like I do. I thank You that I know the truth and my life has true meaning and purpose, grounded in Your Son, Jesus. Grant me the grace to continue in Your ways. There is nothing more I want than this.

Peace
Todd
