When the king heard the words of the law scroll, he tore his clothes.
2 Kings 22:11 NET
When Josiah became King of Judah, he was only eight years old. The nation had descended into so much sin, that the true worship of God was unrecognizable.
One day, a priest found the scroll of the law and they took it to Josiah, who by this time was older. When he heard the words, he realized that he was a king of a nation that was on the verge of knowing God’s anger.
All he had to do was look around and realize that the kingdom was far from following what the Lord required.
You see, the Word of God keeps us on the right path. If we neglect the Word of God, it is easy to head into other ways and ideas of doing things. And those ways are not God’s ways.
That is why Believers need to be in the Word of God and read it with the help of the Holy Spirit.
There is a Biblical illiteracy in the world today. And it plays out in everyday life. You can see it!
But don’t fall into the trap that everyone is doing it. You take responsibility and read God’s Word for yourself!
The Word of God will be a light to your path.
Father, give me a desire for Your Word that burns within me. Help me to understand it through the power of the Holy Spirit. Let it light my path.
