But others jeered at the speakers, saying, “They are drunk on new wine!”
Acts 2:13 NET
When the Holy Spirit came down on the Believers on Pentecost, they went into the streets. They spoke in other tongues and those that heard them, heard them praise God in their native tongue. Even after hearing them praise God, some still said they were drunk.
There is always going to be people who want to excuse away the move of God.
Why? Because if they acknowledge that God is moving around them, then they have to acknowledge that there is a God. And if there is a God, then His Word is true!
That means that they would need to submit themselves to what God says in His Word. And many people don’t want to do that. They rather live in their ignorance.
Do you know of others who make excuses for not living for the Lord? Do you make excuses for not submitting yourself completely to the Lord?
Excuses might sound reasonable and even righteous, but nothing should come before your relationship with God. Nothing!
Faith in the Lord is always put off to another day as many people who say they are Believers make excuses.
They often sound reasonable!
“I’ve been working so hard, I need a day of rest. Didn’t God rest on the seventh day?’
“God knows my heart!”
“I’m very spiritual, but I’m not into organized religion.”
“I don’t understand the Bible.”
What excuses are you making?
It’s amazing how when we find something that we really want to do, we will move Heaven and Earth to do it! But when it comes to spiritual things….then, “God understands.”
Remeber that the things you do for God are eternal. Don’t make excuses now that will have an eternal impact.
Lord, help me to not make excuses in following and obeying You. Nothing in this world compares to You.
