Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5 NASB
How often do you examine yourself? I would bet that many Christians don’t really do this. Why? Because they might not like what they find!
But Paul had a good reason to do this. He wanted the Corinthians to realize and remember that Jesus was in them. I guess the question is, is He really in you?
Having anything in you means that it is a part of you, it has an impact on you. So having Jesus in you should have some results. Not only that, these results and change in your life should be ongoing. Examine yourself.
When I take time to examine myself, I should be looking for the proof or fruit that Jesus is in me. Jesus is life changing and my life should show that.
I need to take time, make it intentional, to take an honest look at my life. Am I living with Jesus on the inside? If not, fix it! In what areas must I allow Jesus to have a more active role in my life?
Lord I sometimes don’t bear the fruit of You being inside. Help me to be honest with myself and examine areas of my life that I do not allow You to have or change. Show me if I need to reorient my life to You. After all, You are most important in my life.
