11 But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.”
Acts 15:11 NASB
Being saved through grace would seem like it should be easy. We believe and we are saved. The problem is that we feel like we should be doing something for it, like we should be working for our salvation or paying some sort of price.
Jesus paid it all! We just need to believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord!…and that Lord thing is where we get hung up. Because here is where we are supposed to do something.
As we become God’s, and accept Jesus Christ, we then come under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Get that…He becomes your Lord! He is in control! Now, He isn’t an evil, manipulative ruler. Instead, He is a loving, caring, kind, forgiving God. But He does require you to come under His Lordship and do things His way! His ways are always right and perfect, if you just follow His lead.
I need to know what He desires for me. I know what He has for me because I spend time with Him and want to get to know Him more. He reveals Himself.
So when I don’t spend time with Him, when I’m not sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, I’m not living under His Lordship. Instead I have taken control.
That’s not the place I want to be in. I want to live my life obedient and pleasing to Him. I’m saved by grace, but I choose to live for Him!
Lord, thank you for saving me. Thank you for allowing me to know You and allowing me to be a part of the family of God.
Help me to grow and know You more and more. I desire to live under Your Lordship. Help me to know Your leading. There is nothing I desire more.
