2 In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
John 14:2-3 NASB
Jesus is coming back. When He does, He’s taking His people with Him. His desire for us is to be with Him forever. He desires a relationship with His people. It’s not enough to just visit, He wants you with Him forever.
He’s not just doing this on a whim. He is planning and preparing and will have a place for us. We probably won’t spend too much time in that place because Heaven is so awesome (read Rev.21). But He is the most hospitable host.
At that time, we will have truly “come home.” We will have rest from this crazy world and go into eternity face to face with the Father.
This means that there is a finite amount of time here on this Earth. After our time here, we won’t be able to come back. What should I be doing if I know I can’t come back? I should be telling as many people as possible about Jesus. I should devote time and resources to make a difference for the Lord. I should be praying and seeking God and definitely not be afraid to speak out. Time is ticking…
Lord I want to be Your hands and feet while I’m here on this Earth. Let me be aware of opportunities to tell others about You. Give me the words to say and let others come to a saving knowledge of who You are. Help me to order my life, my time, because time is short.
