So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase. Acts 9:31 NASB
Life is filled with ups and downs. Or at least it looks to us as ups and downs depending on how we see it.
The Church experiences this too. The Body of Christ, throughout History, seems to experience times of peace and times of upheaval.
We see this in the Book of Acts. After the stoning of Steven, a great persecution broke out in Jerusalem. Saul started rounding up Christians and throwing them in jail. He then received special permission to do the same in Damascus.
We know what happened on the road to Damascus. Saul got saved!
Later in the same chapter, the Bible says the church experienced peace.
Although the persecution wasn’t a fun time, it took the message of the Gospel outside of Jerusalem. Others were saved because of it!
The Church will have ups and downs, as some will consider blessings. But God uses every moment to further His Kingdom.
We are supposed to stay close to God and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, regardless of the time we live in.
Are you drawing closer and closer to God and being led by the Holy Spirit?
Father, help me to be a light that shines for you during all times.
