so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. 1 Thessalonians 5:6 NASB
Hurricane season is upon us. For those who have experienced hurricanes, the idea of dealing with a Cat5 right now isn’t fun. We’ve been warned that this hurricane season might be busy.
But even with this warning, people will wait till the last minute to prepare. They will run to the store to stock up when Hurricane “You Name It,” is churning in the Gulf.
They will be disappointed because many others wait till the last minute too. They have to accept whatever is left on the shelves.
Likewise, those who wait till the last minute to get right with God will be sadly disappointed. There isn’t a, “well I’ll just take whatever is left” ability here.
It is you are ready or not!! That’s it!
And many people will not be ready because they haven’t made Jesus their first priority. Their relationship with Jesus is put on the back burner as they pursue the “other more important” things in life.
As Believers, we are called to be ready. We are to be sober and alert. We need to be prepared for the last day before it is the last day.
If you aren’t prepared, it will sneak up on you. Don’t be one of the unprepared!
What is keeping you from giving Jesus your whole heart? What is keeping you from making Him your top priority?
Nothing else is worth it!
Father, help me to keep my eyes focused on You. I want to be 100% ready for You!
