O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.
Psalms 63:1-3 ESV
We don’t often grapple with life and death. When we do, it’s usually because someone we love or care about is at their end.
But we should! We should grapple with it daily! It would keep us in the proper perspective.
This life is temporary. For the Believer, it is not our real life. The Believer’s real life is caught up with Jesus.
So when we spend time with Him, when we get to know Him more and more, we realize He is all that matters.
If He is front and center of our life, if we desire Him more than anything else, everything else aligns. When we get our eyes off of Him, we run into trouble.
Are you truly seeking Him?
Father, help me to desire nothing more than You. Let me stay in Your Presence where I am continually surrounded by Your goodness and mercy.
