30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him,You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Matthew 14:30-31 NASB
Getting out of the boat takes a lot courage. Out of the 12 disciples, only Peter left the comfort and security of the boat. However, his small amount of faith and courage was immediately met with strong wind and waves.
This often happens. The things of the world or the ploys of Satan don’t get put on hold for us to grow and get stronger in the Lord. They usually come…and come quick.
The awesome thing is that we are not left on our own. We have Jesus who is there and He “immediately” takes our hand when we cry out o Him.
I need to grow in faith. I don’t want to be comfortable in the boat. I want to trust Jesus. I know that He is there at all times. The more I trust and rely on Him, the more my faith grows. This takes time and a little effort on my part to focus on Him and not on the wind and the waves.
Lord, I want to trust You more. In the situations and circumstances that I find myself in, help me to always look to You first. I want to know Your voice that bids me to get out of the boat and exercise my faith. Then I want to do it!
