“‘Cursed be anyone who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
Deuteronomy 27:26 ESV
Many feel that we live in a buffet of choices that we can make for our spiritual lives. We can grab a little of this and take a little of that. We can pile on the spiritually, just as long as it “sounds” good or “feels” good.
But that’s not what the Word says. God gives very clear guidelines and they are all right there in His Word!
In fact, in Moses’ time, the Israelites would gather on two mountains and read the blessings and curses that would come to those who didn’t obey the Word of God. This would be an event that everyone, from every tribe, would participate it.
No one could say they didn’t know or were unclear. It was pretty clear!
And the Word of God is still clear today. You have a responsibility to know it. You have a responsibility to take it seriously and not just look to the Bible as an ancient book with a buffet of commands that you can pick and choose!
This means you need to read the Bible yourself. This means that you need to go to church and follow pastors that will tell you the whole truth, not just a positive message to encourage you to get you through the week.
Your spiritual life is not something to take for granted. Eternity is too important!
Father, help me to read Your Word and understand it. Help me to apply it to my life so that it would be a light to my path.
