For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
Luke 14:28-30 ESV
Have you ever seen a construction project that was never completed? The building might be just a shell, materials are thrown around everywhere, and the area just looks uninviting.
Projects like these can be found everywhere. Why? Because a builder started the work, but something stopped it! It could have been faulty plans, lack of funds, mismanagement, or any other thing!
Somewhere, someone wasn’t prepared to finish the project!
This speaks volumes to Believers today!
Many come to the Lord for a number of reasons. They get excited about their new life in Jesus. They love the idea of eternal life and Heaven. But they don’t count the cost.
Believers need to understand that living for the Lord means not living for themselves anymore. The cost is that you exchange your life and put on your new life with Jesus.
But many want both! And as a result, their life in Christ is filled with fits and starts and it starts to look and feel like a construction site that will never make progress.
The Christian Life is a new life. You are a new creation, the old has passed away, all things are made new.
Are you as a Christian trying to live in the old and new life at the same time?
It is time to let go of the old life and embrace the new life and what Jesus says about it!
Father, thank You for the new life that You have given me. Help me to leave the old behind and never look back.
Peace
Todd
