Glorify God • Magnify Him in this World!

Fire Inside

For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, but fire would be on it at night, in plain view of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
Exodus 40:38 NET

It must have been an awesome sight! When the Tabernacle was set up, God’s glory descended on it and it was so thick that Moses couldn’t even enter.

Afterwards, the Lord always signaled to the Israelites that He was in the camp. During the day, a cloud would be over the Tabernacle and during the night, fire.

When God wanted them to head out, the cloud would be lifted up and the Israelites would then follow the cloud to the next place the Lord wanted them to camp.

It must have been an awesome sight!

But I wonder, did the Israelites become so used to the cloud by day and fire by night that it wasn’t that big of a deal to them?

I mean, after a few months or maybe even years, did they just take it as a common thing and not something special that the Lord did just for them?

We don’t have a cloud by day or a fire by night, but we do have the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit is God Himself who has taken up residence inside of you!

Get that? God inside of you!

I wonder if it is so common to us that we don’t see the awesomeness of this?

I wonder if we have become too accustomed to spiritual things that they have no meaning and instead, we look to other things to capture our imagination and attention?

What a shame if that is the case! God has done something more awesome than a cloud by day and fire by night inside of us!

Don’t let the Holy things of God become commonplace in your life.

God has allowed you to know Him and His love for a reason! He has placed Himself inside of you for a reason!

The things of this world don’t compare to Him. So don’t give them that special place in your life. Save it for Him!

Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit. Guide me and lead me as plainly as you did the Israelites when they had the cloud and fire.
